The Labor Act, 2017 (2074) (“New Labor Act”) was passed by the Parliament on August 11, 2017 (Shrawan 27, 2074) and accorded the assent by the President on Sept. 04, 2017 (2074-05-19). The New Labor Act is now effective from the date of assent by the President by virtue of Section 3 (f) of the Interpretation of Statute Act, 1953 (2010). The New Labor Act has repealed the Labor Act 1992 (2048) (the “Previous Act”). The New Labor Act has brought complete change in employment regime in Nepal.
